Job Overview: The Bar Supervisor is responsible for overseeing the daily operations of the bar area, managing staff, and ensuring excellent guest service. This role includes the supervision of bartenders and other bar staff, managing inventory, liaising with vendors, and scheduling shifts to ensure efficient operation of the bar.

Reports to: Director of Food & Beverage

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Supervise, train, and manage all bar staff in delivering excellent guest service.
  • Oversee the scheduling of bar staff to ensure proper coverage and cost control.
  • Manage inventory levels, order supplies, and negotiate with vendors to meet operational needs.
  • Maintain a thorough working knowledge of the Micros system for ordering, check presentation, payment processing, and generating closing reports.
  • Enforce strict compliance with state liquor regulations, including service to minors, intoxicated persons, and preventing drunk driving.
  • Maintain knowledge of all liquor brands, beers, and non-alcoholic selections, as well as the full menu of the restaurant, ensuring all staff can advise guests accordingly.
  • Ensure the bar area meets all standards for cleanliness, organization, and safety according to health department guidelines.
  • Address guest complaints and resolve issues to maintain high levels of guest satisfaction.
  • Ensure all financial transactions are accurate and all staff report tips as required.
  • Monitor and maintain the security of all cash and physical assets at the bar.

Qualifications:

  • Proven experience as a Bartender with supervisory duties or previous experience as a Bar Supervisor.
  • Flexible schedule with availability to work days, nights, weekends, and holidays.
  • Strong leadership skills and the ability to manage a diverse team.
  • Proficient in using a POS system, preferably Micros.
  • Excellent mathematical skills and ability to handle financial and quantitative information.
  • Skilled in conflict resolution, with the ability to handle difficult situations with tact and diplomacy.
  • Knowledge of fine wines, beers, and liquors.
  • Alcohol awareness certification (TIPS Training) preferred.
  • Food Handlers Certification, ServSafe Certification preferred.
  • Professional communication skills in English, both written and verbal. Additional languages are a plus.
